ACCOSH to discuss Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines for the construction industry

Many of you know that federal OSHA recently revised its 27-year-old Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines publication and offered the public a chance to comment on the draft. In March, OSHA held a public meeting to discuss the comments.

OSHA said that, based on stakeholder input from industry and labor, the draft guidelines were not appropriate for the construction industry. OSHA plans to refer the draft guidelines to the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCOSH) when it meets April 25-26 and develop a separate guide for the construction industry.

The meeting is in response to concerns from contractors and workers' groups that OSHA draft guidelines were aimed primarily at general industry employers and did not specifically address issues at construction sites.
