SafeBuild Alliance and Construction Safety Summit

Interested in networking with other construction-industry professionals and learning about construction safety? There are two Portland-area organizations you should know about: the SafeBuild Alliance and the Construction Safety Summit.

The volunteer-based SafeBuild Alliance has a mission of achieving "zero incidents through collaboration." The Alliance began in 2006 as the Greater Portland Construction Partnership (GPCP) and became the SafeBuild Alliance in 2013. Members include general contractors, subcontractors, owners, public and private entities, design professionals, architects, engineers, construction affiliated organizations and companies, building and construction trade associations, industry vendors and insurers.

The SafeBuild Alliance meets quarterly at McMenamins Kennedy School in Portland. More information is available on the SafeBuild Alliance Website.

The Construction Safety Summit (CSS) was founded in 1995 with the mission of enhancing the construction industry's safety performance in the greater Portland area. The CSS is comprised construction contractors as well as safety equipment manufacturers and vendors, insurance companies, state and local government agencies, educational institutions, local unions, and trade associations.

The CSS meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at John's Incredible Pizza (9180 SW Hall Blvd., Beaverton). Upcoming CSS meetings and discussion topics include a Crane Load Capacity Workshop on Feb. 25 and a Wellness and Fitness Workshop March 25. Cost is $9.50 for lunch. Contact Al Arguedas (503-705-8313, to be added to the CSS email directory.
