This year’s annual Blue Mountain Occupational Safety and Health Conference is scheduled for June 3 at the Pendleton Convention Center.

Keynote speaker at the event is Kina Repp, who lost her arm on her first day on the job at a food processing plant. Repp uses her experience to raise awareness about job hazards and the importance of making safe choices. Her presentation will focus on the role individuals play in being advocates for safety in the workplace.

The event also features exhibits of the latest safety and health products.

Conference registration is $60, which includes lunch and session handouts. For more information about the conference or to register, call Oregon OSHA's Conference Section, 503-378-3272 or 888-292-5247 (toll-free), then select option one or visit the Conferences webpage at

The conference is a joint effort of the Oregon SHARP Alliance (Safety and Health Recognition Program), Oregon OSHA, and a coalition of employers and employees from northeast Oregon.

This is also a good time to let folks know that the Oregon SHARP Alliance is looking for nominations for the organization’s annual Blue Star Award, which is presented at the Blue Mountain Conference. The Blue Star Award spotlights an individual who has stepped up as leader to transform their organizations’ or company’s safety culture and promote continuous safety improvement. The recipient does not have to be a member of the Oregon SHARP Alliance. For more information, and to download a nomination form, visit the SHARP Alliance’s “Blue Star Award” webpage.
