Oregon OSHA has adopted changes to its confined space rule to include the construction industry. Construction industry employers must comply with the rule on March 1, 2015. The rule becomes effective for general industry employers on Jan. 1 2015.

Electric power generation, transmission, and distribution

Oregon OSHA is proposing changes to its electric power generation, transmission, and distribution rules in construction and general industry. The proposed changes:

The comment period closes Friday, Dec. 12, 2014. A notice of the proposal and a link to the proposed rules is here. Tentative adoption for the proposed rules is January 2015.

Cranes and derricks in construction

Oregon OSHA has adopted OSHA's amendments to 1926.1427(k), extending the phase-in expiration date for crane operator certification and the employer's duty to ensure competent and safe crane operations to Nov. 10, 2017. The previous expiration date was Nov. 10, 2014.
