Power line safety – evaluating the work zone

Oregon OSHA has a new fact sheet that provides contractors with a flow chart to help them evaluate a work zone when cranes will be operating within 20 feet of an overhead power line.

The flow chart offers a systematic approach toward compliance with paragraphs (a) and (b) of 1926.1408 Power line safety (up to 350 kV) – equipment operations, which makes it relatively easy to identify the work zone, define the zone's boundaries, and determine what options to follow if the crane could get closer than twenty feet to a power line.

You'll find the new fact sheet, Power line safety – evaluating the work zone, on the Publications page of Oregon OSHA's Web site, under Fact Sheets.
