Portable power tools

Overview

Portable power tools are generally classified by their power source: electric, pneumatic, liquid fuel, hydraulic, and powder-actuated. Follow these five safe practices to prevent injuries caused by portable power tools:

Maintain them to keep them in good condition
Use the right tool for the job
Examine each tool for damage before using it; do not use damaged tools
Operate tools following the manufacturer’s instructions
Use the personal protective equipment appropriate for the tool
