Workers' Memorial Scholarship

Helping families finance higher education

Each year, children in Oregon must cope with a parent being taken from their lives through a workplace death. The loss can have a profound effect on a family’s ability to finance higher education.

Our annual Workers’ Memorial Scholarship is open to students, GED recipients, and recent graduates who are dependents or spouses of workers killed or permanently disabled by on-the-job injuries. The fund was created by the 1991 Legislature to help surviving family members reach their educational goals.

How to apply

The state Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC) handles applications for the Workers’ Memorial Scholarship. An electronic application is available on OSAC’s website. Students may apply for more than 500 scholarships through a single application on the OSAC website. For help with your application, call 541-687-7422.

Previous recipients

Past recipients of scholarship awards have included students from a variety of cities and towns in Oregon who were studying a range of subjects, including law, psychology, and pre-medicine.
