First aid is emergency care provided for injury or sudden illness before emergency medical treatment is available. A first-aid provider in the workplace is someone who is trained to provide a primary assessment and intervention while waiting for emergency medical service personnel.
Is there a nearby emergency clinic or hospital that will admit victims of emergencies from your workplace? If not, make sure that first-aid providers at your workplace have appropriate first-aid training and supplies. See the Rules tab below for more information about Oregon OSHA’s first aid requirements.
