Approximately 1.1 billion pounds of active pesticides are used annually in the U.S., and more than 17,000 pesticide products are marketed in the U.S. As many as 20,000 physician-diagnosed pesticide poisonings occur each year among the approximately 2 million U.S. agricultural workers. Agricultural workers, groundskeepers, pet groomers, fumigators, and many of other occupations are at risk for exposure to pesticides.

National Pesticide Information Center (NPIC)
NPIC provides objective, science-based information about pesticides and pesticide-related topics to enable people to make informed decisions about pesticides and their use. NPIC is a cooperative agreement between Oregon State University and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
